Paramedics: 4 seriously injured in New Castle-area crash

NEW CASTLE, Delaware — A New Castle County official says four people were seriously injured when a car and pickup truck crashed on U.S. 13 near New Castle.

The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes.

Cpl. Peter Small of New Castle County paramedics says the driver of a silver Volkswagen Jetta was trapped in the car about 30 minutes before Wilmington Manor firefighters were able to pull him free. Small says the 20-year-old man was taken to Christiana Hospital with leg injuries and possible head and internal injuries.

Small says all three people in the pickup truck, including 36-year-old man, 26-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
