SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — Snow, freezing rain and cold weather has limited spring fieldwork in South Dakota over the past week.
The Agriculture Department says in its latest crop and weather report that the planting of crops is on hold. The report also says the spring storms have caused problems for ranchers in the midst of calving and lambing.
The condition of South Dakota's winter wheat crop is rated as only 47 percent good to excellent. Cattle and calf conditions are rated 55 percent good to excellent.
