LAKE PLACID, New York — Up to 1,000 athletes are expected to compete at the 34th annual Empire State Winter Games in the Adirondacks this February.
The games will take place Feb. 6-9 at venues in Lake Placid, Wilmington, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Paul Smiths. Athletes will compete in events including alpine skiing, figure skating, ice hockey and adaptive alpine racing.
A torch run will begin Feb. 5 through northern New York to Lake Placid for the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony will be held in the Olympic Center's 1980 Herb Brooks Arena.
