Hawkins hits go-ahead jumper, UC Davis comes back to beat UC Riverside 61-59

DAVIS, California — Corey Hawkins knocked down the go-ahead basket with 38 seconds left and UC Davis held on for a come-from-behind 61-59 victory over UC Riverside on Thursday night.

Josh Fox converted a three-point play and Hawkins made two at the line to close the Aggies within 54-52. UC Riverside then missed a shot attempt from distance, and Darius Graham dropped a 3-pointer on the other end to give the Aggies their first lead of the contest with 1:18 remaining.

Taylor Johns made a layup with 55 seconds to put the Highlanders back in front, and Hawkins answered with a jumper. The Aggies shot 4 of 6 from the line to seal it.

Hawkins finished with 21 points. UC Davis (23-5, 13-2) continues to hold first place in Big West standings, and will play its regular season finale against UC Irvine on Saturday.

Johns led UC Riverside (14-15, 7-8) with 15 points.
