NY driver sentenced to 15 years for crash that killed baby; Admitted using drugs, alcohol

BUFFALO, New York — A New York woman has been sentenced to the maximum 15 years in prison for a drug-and-alcohol-fueled crash that killed a 7-month-old girl.

Danielle Kellogg apologized Wednesday before being sentenced in Erie County Court. The 24-year-old pleaded guilty in March to vehicular manslaughter.

The Nov. 27 collision in the town of Brant, southwest of Buffalo, killed infant Baylee Marie Dion. Authorities say Kellogg's SUV crossed a center line and struck a car driven by Baylee's mother with such force that it tore the car in half.

Prosecutors say Kellogg had cocaine and marijuana in her system and also admitted to drinking several beers before the 9 a.m. crash. Authorities say her blood-alcohol content was at least 0.13 percent, well above the legal threshold of 0.08 percent.
