DAVOS, Switzerland — Norway extended its dominance of the cross-country skiing World Cup with victories for Marit Bjoergen and Anders Gloeersen in distance races on Saturday.

Six-time Olympic champion Bjoergen won a 10-kilometer freestyle event to give Norway a record 10th straight women's World Cup race victory. Russian women won nine straight in 1995.

Bjoergen timed 24 minutes, 57.7 seconds, with runner-up Nicole Fessel of Germany 19.9 seconds back. Norway's Heidi Weng was third, 26.7 back.

"The downhills were not so easy and I had to be careful not to lose the victory," Bjoergen said.

With her sixth straight victory in a World Cup 10K freestyle, Bjoergen extended her lead in the overall standings over teammate Therese Johaug. Norway has six of the top eight racers.

The last non-Norwegian to win a World Cup event was American Kikkan Randall, in a sprint freestyle race in March at Lahti, Finland.

Gloeersen's first win this season came in a 15K freestyle with Norway sweeping the podium. His time of 34:27.9 was 4.8 faster than Petter Northug and 10.4 clear of third-placed Chris Andre Jespersen.

Martin Johnsrud Sundby of Norway leads the overall standings, and placed sixth Saturday. Gloeersen rose to ninth.

Davos was hosting the World Cup for a second straight weekend.

The current meeting, which concludes with sprint events Sunday, was rescheduled due to lack of snow at La Clusaz, France.
