Police: 58-year-old Minot man was not wearing a helmet, passing cars, when he lost control

MINOT, Maine — Maine state police say a Minot man is dead after losing control of his motorcycle and skidding into the woods.

The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1BSw5un ) that 58-year-old Richard Sprague died at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

Trooper Nathan Jamo says witnesses told him that Sprague had been passing cars on Center Minot Hill Road just before the accident occurred.

Authorities say Sprague was not wearing a helmet.
