CHESAPEAKE, Virginia — A Chesapeake sheriff's deputy is on administrative suspension following his arrest on drunken driving and hit-and-run charges.

Police tell media outlets that Deputy Spiro Taglis was arrested at his home Saturday following a hit-and-run crash. Police say Taglis wasn't driving a city vehicle when the wreck occurred.

Police say Taglis is assigned to the Chesapeake Sheriff's Office's classification section. He has worked for the sheriff's office for 15 years.
