Maine seeks nominees for annual Governor's Awards on Environmental Excellence


AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine is looking for businesses, nonprofits and government entities that are taking steps to protect the state's natural resources and strengthen its economy.

The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking nominees for the Governor's Awards on Environmental Excellence.

The awards honor groups that have implemented programs or projects that brought "measurable and meaningful environmental and economic benefits."

Applications are due by June 26.

Last year's winners included South Portland-based Texas Instruments, Allagash Brewery in Portland and the Lewiston-Auburn Pollution Control Authority.
