Man pleads innocent to taking prescription drugs from pharmacy

MIDDLEBURY, Vermont — Police in Middlebury, Vermont, say a man accused of robbing 30 prescription pain pills from a pharmacy has pleaded not guilty.

Police said 40-year-old Michael Maheu of Ripton was charged with assault and robbery stemming from the incident Sunday night. The Rutland Herald reports (http://bit.ly/13S6ZRJ) he turned himself in to police on Monday and pleaded not guilty in Rutland criminal court Tuesday. He was held for lack of $5,000 bail.

Maheu was ordered to start a drug treatment program within seven days of his release.
