Minot Air Force Base announces 1st air show in 7 years; base to pursue 2 premier aerial teams

MINOT, North Dakota — An air show is coming to the Minot Air Force Base next year.

The Minot Daily News reports ( ) that the event has been approved for Aug. 13, 2016. It will be the first air show at the base in seven years.

Base officials say they are hoping to land one of two premier military demonstration teams, the Navy Blue Angels or Air Force Thunderbirds, but there are no guarantees.

Col. David Ballew, the base commander, says no matter what the lineup it will be a "big event" with a lot of entertaining aerial acts.

The Blue Angels appeared at an air show in Fargo last month.
