Winter storm dumps up to 5 inches of snow along narrow band of southeastern Wisconsin


MILWAUKEE — Southeastern Wisconsin is digging out from its first significant snowfall of the season.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports ( ) that as much as 5 inches fell from Saturday night through Sunday morning along a narrow band stretching from southern Rock County through Walworth County to Racine. Milwaukee got 1.5 inches while Waukesha got just under 2 inches.

Temperatures in southeastern Wisconsin are expected to remain well below normal for much of this week, but a slight warm-up could be on its way with highs above freezing again by next weekend.
