DENVER — Aurora police shot and killed a suspect in an armed robbery after they say he refused their commands following a high-speed chase.

The Denver Post reports (http://dpo.st/1ISwxf6 ) officers were called to the convenience store robbery at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday and spotted a car speeding away from the scene with its lights off.

Police pursued the vehicle for several miles, ending the chase with a maneuver that spun the car to a stop. Authorities say the driver then ran from the car with a handgun.

Investigators say the suspect was shot when he refused to follow the officers' orders. They did not say if he pointed a gun at the officers.

A second suspect in the car was arrested without incident. Neither of the suspects' names has been released.
