DEADWOOD, South Dakota — No charges will be filed against a Deadwood man in a golf cart crash that killed his wife.

Authorities say 54-year-old Monica Beer died Saturday when the golf cart she was riding in plunged off a 7 1/2-foot-high retaining wall and rolled on top of her and her husband, Greg Vecchi. Vecchi was driving.

Beer died at the scene in the couple's backyard. Vecchi was treated at a hospital for serious injuries and later released.

The Rapid City Journal reports (http://bit.ly/W38JUI ) Vecchi told police that the golf cart's accelerator got stuck. Tests showed he had no alcohol in his system.
