WASHINGTON — D.C. police say an officer shot and killed a man who refused to put down a gun near a southeast Washington elementary school.

Police say they received a report of a man with a gun walking by Plummer Elementary School in with a gun on Sunday night. When officers arrived, police say they ordered the man to drop the weapon, but he refused. That's when police say an officer shot the man.

The man was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center in Maryland, where police say he died. Police identified him as 33-year-old Isaac Little of Washington.
