Gas prices rise 3 cents to average $2.17 per gallon in Rhode Island


PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — The price of a gallon of regular gas in Rhode Island has ticked up to an average of $2.17.

AAA Northeast says its weekly report on Monday found the price was up 3 cents per gallon.

The national average is 5 cents higher, at $2.22 per gallon.

Prices in Rhode Island are 84 cents higher than a year ago, when the average price was $3.01 per gallon.

AAA's Lloyd Albert says the strong supply of global oil will keep prices low as travelers prepare for Thanksgiving travel.
