Strained shoulder sidelines Bulls' Jimmy Butler for game vs Cavaliers; All-Star for Chicago

CHICAGO — The Chicago Bulls have ruled All-Star Jimmy Butler out for Thursday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers because of a strained right shoulder.

Butler's absence is a blow for the Bulls as they try to hang on to the Central division lead. They began the day a half-game ahead of the surging Cavaliers.

Butler, averaging 20.4 points and 5.8 rebounds, was injured in the first half of Tuesday's win over Sacramento and sat out the final two quarters.

Guard Kirk Hinrich is missing his third straight game because of a left turf toe injury.
