Governor to recommend state kick in $30M for Albuquerque interchange

SANTA FE, N.M. — Gov. Susanna Martinez will recommend the state chip in $30 million for rebuilding the Paseo del Norte interchange in Albuquerque.

Mayor Richard Berry tells the Albuquerque Journal $30 million is a good number. The city has committed to pay as much as $50 million of the Paseo project and now is looking to other sources to close the gap.

The Legislature would have to approve Martinez's request for the state capital outlay funding.

Paseo is a main thoroughfare connecting the east and west sides of Albuquerque. It's known as a rush hour headache for drivers as cars and trucks backup on the Paseo/I-25 interchange.
