MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee man won the biggest Megabucks' jackpot in the game's history.
John Rumpel won the May 30 jackpot of $22.2 million. He decided to go with the cash option, so he's taking home $15.7 million.
The former high school teacher says his wife sent him to a convenience store for a gallon of milk and while he was there, he decided to buy a ticket.
He says he later heard on a newscast that the winning ticket was sold at the store where he stopped — A&I Services — so he looked up the numbers.
A&I Services will receive $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
The jackpot was the largest since the game began in 1992. The next drawing is Saturday night, with an estimated $1.2 million jackpot.
