Jobless rates fall in 42 West Virginia counties, rise in 10; 3 counties unchanged

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Unemployment rates have fallen in 42 West Virginia counties.

WorkForce West Virginia says jobless rates rose in 10 counties in April and were unchanged in Jefferson, Marion and Taylor counties.

Counties with higher unemployment rates were Boone, Hardy, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo, Monongalia, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Randolph, and Wyoming.

Figures released Friday show Pocahontas County's 12.7 percent unemployment rate was the highest in the state. Monongalia County's 4.6 percent rate was the lowest.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.7 percent in April, down from 6.8 percent in March.
