WORCESTER, Massachusetts — A Worcester truck driver is facing a motor vehicle homicide charge in connection with the death of a pedestrian in the city.

Worcester police say 51-year-old Stephen Santo will be summoned to Central District Court to face several charges in connection with the Dec. 11 death of Bryan Beardsley.

Police say the 60-year-old Beardsley was crossing the street after dark when he was struck. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/13Eme02 ) reports that based on witness statements and area security video, investigators tracked down Santo.

Santo told police that he did not know he had struck anyone.

Family members say Beardsley did not have a car and was making the approximately 2-mile walk to his home after visiting his brother.
