Plea deal offered to Palisade mom accused in deaths of 2 sons who were left alone in SUV

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — A defense lawyer says prosecutors have offered a plea deal to a Palisade mother accused in the deaths of her two sons, who were left alone in an SUV with the heater running.

The Daily Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/12oPWyE ) Heather Jensen's defense lawyer mentioned the offer in court Wednesday but didn't disclose details. Prosecutors also haven't publicly described the offer.

Jensen is charged with child abuse resulting in death, criminally negligent homicide and false reporting in the deaths of her sons William and Tyler, ages 2 and 4, last November.

Coroner's officials have said the boys died of hyperthermia, or overheating. An arrest warrant affidavit alleges Jensen had left the boys alone in the SUV while she had sex and smoked marijuana nearby.
