Columbus Blue Jackets re-sign defenseman Tim Erixon to 1-year contract for 2014-15

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Tim Erixon to a one-year contract for the 2014-15 season.

The 23-year-old Erixon was acquired along with centers Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov and a first-round pick two years ago in the blockbuster deal that sent Rick Nash to the New York Rangers.

Erixon has seven assists in 51 career NHL games, spending most of last season with Springfield, Massachusetts, of the AHL, where he had five goals and 33 assists in 40 games. He was a first-round pick, 23rd overall, by Calgary in 2009.

Erixon was a restricted free agent. Star center Ryan Johansen is the club's biggest remaining restricted free agent.
