NEW YORK — A man was arrested after stabbing the mother of his child in an Upper East Side office building and then attacking two workers at a Consolidated Edison building in downtown Manhattan.

Police say the man approached the 35-year-old woman in the building's vestibule and stabbed her in the stomach and back shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday. She was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

About 20 minutes later, police say the man entered the Con Ed building on Irving Plaza where he struck a worker with an axe. Another worker came to the victim's defense and was also struck before the attacker was subdued. The two workers were hospitalized with cuts and abrasions.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Terry Trevial was arrested on charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer.
