2-vehicle crash on La. 40 in Tangipahoa Parish kills motorcycle driver, 24

LORANGER, Louisiana — State police say a motorcycle driver from Luling has died after a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 40 in Tangipahoa Parish.

The victim in the Wednesday morning crash was identified as 24-year-old Louis Perkins.

Troopers said Perkins was traveling east on Highway 40 on a Yamaha motorcycle.

A PT Cruiser backed out of a private driveway and into the motorcycle's path.

Investigating troopers suspect that Perkins attempted to avoid collision by entering the westbound lane and passing the vehicle. However, the car abruptly turned left, resulting in a collision. Perkins was ejected from the motorcycle

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said the car's driver, 63-year-old Christine Lynn of Loranger, was booked on charges of Failure to Yield from a Private Drive and Negligent Homicide.
