TUCSON, Arizona — An armed man who was shot and wounded by a Tucson police officer during a foot chase has been identified.

Police say 19-year-old Naun Alvarez was shot multiple times and taken to a hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

They say the shooting occurred after police responded Saturday night to a 911 call about a fight between a man and a woman.

Police located the couple shortly after arriving at the scene.

But when officers attempted to talk to them, the man ran and a foot chase began.

During the chase, shots were fired at the man who was armed with a handgun and he was struck multiple times.

Police say no officers were injured during the incident.
