HELENA, Montana — Bitter cold temperatures followed on the heels of a snowstorm that swept through Montana.

The National Weather Service says many residents will wake up Sunday morning to temperatures around zero. Some areas were expecting below zero readings.

The cold followed snow that fell in much of southern and western Montana.

About a foot fell in the Red Lodge area, and up to 10 inches near Livingston.

Higher amounts were recorded in mountain areas.

The Montana Department of Transportation reported many slick and snow-covered roads, mainly in western areas of the state Saturday.
