RALEIGH, North Carolina — A 7-year-old boy has been shot and wounded at a home in Raleigh.

Wake County sheriff's spokesman Richard Johnson said in a statement that deputies were called shortly after 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The boy was taken to a Raleigh hospital in a private vehicle. He was later transferred to Duke Hospital in Durham. Sheriff Donnie Harrison told local media the injuries appeared to be serious. His name has not been released.
