MADISON, Wisconsin — Gov. Scott Walker has appointed a former Milwaukee judge to the state Government Accountability Board.

John Franke (FRANK'-eee) replaces Michael Brennan, whose six-year term expired on May 1. Franke will serve on the board until May 1, 2020. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the state Senate.

Franke was first elected a Milwaukee County judge in 1987. He was re-elected three times before leaving the bench in 2009 to become a partner with Gass Weber Mullins LLC, a Milwaukee law firm.

The GAB runs state elections and administers campaign finance, ethics and lobbying laws.
