PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh-area man has been sentenced to between 23-and-a-half to 47 years in prison in the beating death of his 11-year-old stepson last year.
Judge Donna Jo McDaniel sentenced 30-year-old Anthony Bush on Monday. Police say Bush told them he beat Donovan McKee with wooden sticks, metal rods and a belt. Bush was found guilty of third-degree murder in February.
The boy's mother, 31-year-old Cynthia McKee, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Authorities say McKee was at work during the beating, and after she arrived home and found her son unresponsive waited over an hour before calling 911.
The boy died at a hospital the next morning.
McKee was sentenced in March to 5 to 10 years in prison for failing to get medical help sooner.
