KINDERHOOK, New York — Authorities say a head-on crash in upstate New York has left an infant dead and four people injured.

The wreck happened Monday around 5:20 p.m. on Route 9 in Kinderhook in Columbia County. State police say a BMW being driven by a 33-year-old man from nearby Hudson crossed the center lane and collided with a Nissan Rogue.

A 10-month-old passenger in the Rogue died in the crash. Four other people are recovering from injuries that aren't life-threatening.

Troopers aren't releasing the infant's name.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
