CARSON CITY, Nevada — Nevada's unemployment rate is holding steady after experiencing the first monthly uptick in years.

The state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation announced Wednesday that Nevada's jobless rate stayed at a seasonally adjusted 7.1 percent in March.

Nevada's unemployment rate has remained flat since January, when the rate ticked upward for the first time in more than four years.

The jobless rate is down 1.1 percent since last year, and Gov. Brian Sandoval said in a statement that the state is headed in the right direction.

Unemployment numbers for Las Vegas and Reno will be released next week.
