LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — A Lafayette Parish grand jury has indicted a 52-year-old man who in August told police that he was across the street from his home when he saw an intruder and shot twice through a window into his home.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1rriYK1) Marcus Johnson, of Lafayette, was indicted Wednesday on a charge of manslaughter in the Aug. 24 shooting death of 46-year-old Ramsey Demouchet, also of Lafayette.

Johnson told police he shot twice more at Demouchet as the man tried to get away. Demouchet was pronounced dead in the backyard of the home.

Bail for Johnson was set Wednesday at $50,000.

It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
