ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police are asking witnesses to come forward with information on an early morning downtown shooting that left a man with a wound to his leg.

Police say they took multiple calls on shots fired at around 3 a.m. Sunday west of Fourth Avenue and G Street.

Witnesses told officers a man on foot fired shots, got into a car or truck and drove off. Police found the vehicle a few blocks away and detained the driver.

About an hour later, police took a call from a home in midtown Anchorage. A man said he had been wounded at the downtown shooting scene.

Police describe his leg wound as minor and not life threatening.
