Providence police investigate stabbing at bar, will notify city licensing board


PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Providence police are investigating an early morning stabbing at a bar and will report their findings to the city's Board of Licenses, with a possible recommendation for penalties against the bar owners if warranted.

Authorities say a person was stabbed in the left arm at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday inside the Rock & Rye American Bar on Atwells Avenue.

Police told The Providence Journal ( ) that the stabbing occurred during a fight between two groups of people, including one group wearing biker vests.

Police haven't released the victim's name. No arrests have been announced.
