3-year-old boy dies in apparent accidental shooting in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a 3-year-old boy has died after an apparently accidental shooting.

Police said the shooting happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Investigators think the boy was in a home when he was shot. The boy was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

Police said family members in the home are cooperating in the investigation.
