MESA, Arizona — Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies say a woman has been found dead in the desert northeast of Mesa.

Sheriff's spokesman Chris Hegstrom says officers responded to a 911 call just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday about a shooting near Power and McDowell Roads, south of the Salt River.

Hegstrom says the victim had been shot and a man is in custody.

Authorities believe the shooting is an isolated incident of domestic violence.

Hegstrom did not release any other details but said investigators are interviewing the man in custody.
