Joseph Chehardy found guilty of second-degree murder of his wife in their Tioga home

ALEXANDRIA, La. — A Rapides Parish jury has convicted a Tioga man of second-degree murder of his wife, who was shot to death in May 2010.

The Town Talk reports (http://townta.lk/KHJwpf ) the jury of nine women and three men deliberated 50 minutes before finding Joseph Anton Chehardy Jr. guilty.

Authorities say Janeva Lasyone was shot twice, once in the head at the couple's home on May 19, 2010.

Chehardy faces a mandatory life sentence.
