Delaware prison inmate dead after apparent suicide at Sussex Correctional Institution

DOVER, Delaware — Delaware prison officials say a 48-year-old inmate has died in an apparent suicide.

Authorities say Jack Cebenka of Milton, who was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown, died Saturday.

Officials say Cebenka had been in custody since Sept. 3, detained on theft and conspiracy charges out of Pennsylvania.

Cebenka was alone in a single-occupant cell on Saturday at the time of the apparent suicide, and that no foul play is suspected.

Prison staff administered CPR while awaiting paramedics, but Cebenka was pronounced dead en route to Beebe Hospital.

State police are investigating.
