MOSS POINT, Miss. — School officials say the Commission of School Accreditation will recommend that the state Board of Education upgrade Moss Point's accreditation status this fall.
The Mississippi Press reports (http://bit.ly/ICCGAw ) the four accreditation statuses are accredited, advised, probation and withdrawn.
Last June, Moss Point's accreditation dropped two levels, from "accredited" to "probation," after the state found multiple violations in two separate investigations.
One investigation led by the state auditor's office discovered violations such as improper attendance reporting, wrongful use of special education funding and issues with the coding of job positions. A separate investigation by the Office of Student Assessment revealed multiple violations in regard to the administration of state tests.
Superintendent Greg Ladner said the Commission of School Accreditation voted April 18 to bump the accreditation back up two notches.
