Man who was shot after grabbing trooper's arm, driving off charged with attempted murder

BALTIMORE — Maryland State police say a man who was shot after allegedly grabbing a trooper's arm in his car window and driving off has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Twenty-three-year-old Harry F. Wyatt-Swift of Salisbury was served a warrant Wednesday at Shock Trauma, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound and other injuries. A court commissioner conducted an initial appearance proceeding at the hospital and Wyatt-Swift was ordered held without bond.

He will stay under guard while he is in the hospital.

Troopers say early Tuesday, Wyatt-Swift tried to drive off during a sobriety test. Police say the trooper tried to take the keys from the ignition and Wyatt-Swift held the trooper's arm and drove off.

Authorities say the trooper then shot Wyatt-Swift.
