North Dakota State College of Science names North Dakota's federal prosecutor alumnus of year


BISMARCK, North Dakota — North Dakota's top federal prosecutor is the alumnus of the year at North Dakota State College of Science.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon received an associate degree in liberal arts from the Wahpeton school in 1989. He earned a president's scholarship and was on the president's honor roll during his tenure at NDSCS.

Purdon went on to attend Minnesota State University Moorhead and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English in 1991. He attended law school at Hamline.

President Barack Obama nominated Purdon to the post of U.S. attorney on Feb. 4, 2010. Purdon was confirmed by the Senate on Aug. 5, 2010. He is North Dakota's 18th U.S. attorney.
