ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Division of Forestry says a wildfire east of Fairbanks has consumed 120 acres and could affect traffic.
Spokeswoman Maggie Rogers says in an announcement that the Kanuti (kah-NOO'-tee) Fire started Monday afternoon near homes along Mile 17 Chena Hot Springs Road.
She says a strong effort by firefighters kept it from reaching structures.
Fire crews Monday set up a roadblock at Mile 15 and later moved it back two miles because flames were too close.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://bit.ly/14IhT99) reports Two Rivers Lodge at Mile 15.9 was in the path of the fire but was saved.
Rogers says the road is open but fire activity Tuesday may cause unscheduled delays between Miles 15 and 17.
Temporary flight restrictions are in place in the area.
