Magnitude-3.9 quake strikes coastal area south of Los Angeles; no reports of any damage

LOS ANGELES — A small earthquake has shaken a coastal area southwest of Los Angeles, but there are no reports of damage or injuries.

The magnitude-3.9 quake hit about 1 p.m. Wednesday and was centered about six miles south of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Los Angeles police Sgt. Gerry Davlia said there haven't been any reports of damage or injuries in the San Pedro area, several miles away from the epicenter.
