Homeowners, businesses hit by storms in S. Indiana have until Tuesday to apply for FEMA aid

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana homeowners and businesses affected by tornadoes and other storms that hit southern Indiana earlier this year have until Tuesday to register for federal assistance and apply for low-interest disaster loans.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says residents and businesses in Clark, Jefferson, Ripley, Scott, Warrick or Washington counties who had property damaged by the storms Feb. 29 through March 3 should register for federal aid and submit their loan applications as soon as possible.

As of last week, FEMA reported that $1.4 million had been approved to fund expenses not covered by insurance or other programs. The U.S. Small Business Administration had approved more than $2 million in low-interest disaster loans.
