BOULDER, Colorado — A mountain lion that was captured in a Boulder neighborhood has been euthanized because of health problems.

The Daily Camera reports ( ) the cougar was tranquilized in a backyard near Chautauqua Park on Wednesday afternoon after residents said it was wandering in their neighborhood.

Jennifer Churchill, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokeswoman, says veterinarians in Fort Collins found a blockage of major blood and lymphatic vessels in the mountain lion's abdomen that caused about four gallons of fluid to leak into the animal's belly.

The mountain lion, which also had liver problems, was 8 years old and had delivered several litters of kittens.
