GOSHEN, New York — A 21-year-old man has pleaded guilty in the drug-related crash on a Hudson Valley road that killed his 15-year-old friend a year ago this week.
The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (http://bit.ly/17OplUy ) that Edward Lier of Wallkill in Ulster County pleaded guilty Thursday in Orange County Court to aggravated vehicular homicide.
Authorities say Lier was high on marijuana and prescription drugs when the crash occurred in the town of Newburgh on Nov. 19, 2012. Police say he crossed into oncoming traffic on Route 32 and smashed head-on into another car, splitting his vehicle in half.
One of Lier's backseat passengers, Alana Tadry of Plattekill, was killed. Her boyfriend and another teenager riding in Lier's car suffered serious injuries.
Lier faces six to 18 years in state prison when he's sentenced Jan. 6.
