4 meetings planned in western South Dakota to help ranchers apply for federal livestock help

RAPID CITY, South Dakota — Four meetings are planned for western South Dakota to give ranch families the chance to meet with Farm Service Agency officials regarding the Livestock Disaster Program.

Several agencies are hosting the community gatherings and free meal on April 14 and 15 in Eagle Butte, Union Center, Hermosa and Interior.

The program's application process starts April 15.

A storm on Oct. 4 and 5 killed more than 43,000 cattle, sheep, horses and bison in South Dakota.
