BURLINGTON, Vermont — A University of Vermont student is fine after he went missing for a while on a group hike up the state's highest peak.

Other students called state police on Saturday afternoon, saying they had become separated from 20-year-old Kailas Rangachar of Burlington at Mount Mansfield.

The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/10eAXgv) Rangachar was found about an hour later in good condition hiking on a trail by another hiker who had learned he was missing and set out to look for him. It was snowing when Rangachar was found.

The other students had safely descended on the Sunset Ridge Trail to Underhill State Park.
