Officials say Ohio man charged with killing 13-year-old dies in jail, cause undetermined

DAYTON, Ohio — Authorities say an ex-convict charged in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old girl in Dayton has died in jail.

The coroner in Montgomery County said 39-year-old Dameon Lareese Wesley was found dead in his cell Thursday morning. Cause of death hasn't been determined, but there was no sign of foul play and it didn't appear he committed suicide.

Wesley — who was paroled after serving 18 years in prison for the slaying of his roommate — was charged with shooting his ex-girlfriend's 13-year-old daughter, Briona Rodgers, in the head on Feb. 24.

Another 13-year-old girl — Briona's cousin — was also shot in the head but survived.

Wesley's attorney told The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/11YlH4b ) that his client was "extremely obese" and in poor health.
